Learning Support Assistant – Newcastle

About the Role
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring students receive the support they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Your responsibilities will include:

Supporting students on a one-to-one basis or in small groups, helping them to engage with the curriculum.

Assisting teachers in delivering inclusive and engaging lessons.

Adapting learning materials to meet individual needs.

Encouraging positive behaviour and supporting students with emotional and social development.

Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other school staff to implement tailored support strategies.

Assisting with classroom activities and ensuring a safe and productive learning environment.
This role is ideal for candidates looking to gain experience in education, particularly those considering a career in teaching or special educational needs support.
What We’re Looking For
We welcome applicants from a variety of backgrounds, including those with previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, Youth Worker, Care Worker, or in any role involving children or young people. The ideal candidate will have:

A passion for education and supporting young people.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Experience working with children or young people, ideally in a school setting (though this is not essential).

The ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.

A proactive and adaptable approach to learning support.

A valid, enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or a willingness to apply for an enhanced DBS check.
